Yes, friends. Winter is coming. As I sit and write this post, I am off work with arthritis. The pain in my hip became too much to bear, and so, a couple of weeks ago, my doctor started me on a course of treatment and told me to take time away from work to allow my body time to heal. Once again, I now take several medications, mostly anti-inflammatories and drugs to counter the stomach problems caused by them. Resting is helping, but as soon as I move too far, the pain returns, and I have to stop what I am doing. I now walk with a stick, which helps a lot but has taken some time to get used to. I will speak to my doctor again later this week to discuss my progress. Right now, I cannot see how I can spend upwards of thirteen hours a day driving an HGV truck. I have enough trouble just getting in and out of my car. So, I will continue to heal at home, try and do the exercises that I have found on the internet and wait to see an improvement.
So, part of my recovery and ongoing treatment will involve diet. I will lean into daily fasting as a way to mitigate my symptoms. Fasting, combined with eating a ketogenic diet, should help me to shift the last of the fat that I am carrying. If I get my weight below 100 kilograms, I will see a massive improvement in my ability to move and add strength to the muscles around my hip.
My mental health and well-being have also taken a beating. The creeping doubt about not being able to return to work and, therefore, provide for my family is causing sleepless nights. I hope that the company that I work for can come up with a suitable way for me to continue working for them in some way. I might have to start driving a desk instead of a truck.
As today is the 1st of November, I have decided to limit my social media use to checking via my PC only once daily. Most of my digital output will be on my trusty blog. Well, that’s about it for now; I will post regular updates, especially as I have neglected this site for so long.
Until next time, adieu.
