2018 – The Anti-Resolution Paradigm

So, this is 2018? Happy New Year To You! These are not resolutions!

This post is pre-meditated & pre-written. I am once again sat in the skatepark writing a blog post. Karta was desperate to squeeze in another session before the end of the year.

And what a fucking year it has been!

I mean, this time last year, I was unable to relax and enjoy the festivities. Last year I was in bed by 9 PM, lights out and trying to get to sleep for a few hours, before I had to get up and go to work in the early hours of new year’s day.

The job seemed like a good idea at the time. I was wrong. It fucked up my Christmas, and it screwed up my new years eve.

This new year’s eve, things are much much different. I have had no luck with getting a full-time job; my freelance work hasn’t been coming in as I had hoped and I am broke.

BUT…

As we journey into the future that is 2018, I am feeling both happy and relieved about a great many things. I have had the weight of many secrets weighing me down since the beginning of 2016. That has resolved itself over the last 48 hours.  I feel confident that I can start the year with my eyes wide open, free from the burden and able to finally see the path that I need to take.

There are a handful of things that I aim to achieve. First, start writing my novel. Second, beat all of my health goals, I’ll be 50 in November 2018, I hope to be a man with the physical age of at least half that by then.

Third, I’m going to let go of a lot of stuff, both physical things and my personal (psychological) baggage.  By letting go, I hope to be in a better place to express myself.

The fourth thing on my list, I’m winding down my social media use to the absolute bare minimum. I’ll post stuff to Twitter and Facebook, but only via this blog and Instashit. I want control over my content and where it is available. As I have mentioned before, I will also be winding down several of my blogs and consolidating them on this website.

Aside from those four things, I will be looking at better ways to spend my spare time. I’ll be reading more, visiting the cinema regularly and trying to use my car less.

When purchasing anything, I will be using the need/want model to make those purchasing decisions. I think I can save a lot of money by doing this.

Anyhoo, I’m sure that there’s a lot more that I could say, but I can’t be bothered right now. It’s almost 2018.

Wait, it is 2018! Happy New Year to you all, let’s hope it’s a great one.

Until next time, adieu.

Z.
