Today I begin a new chapter in my driving career. I have started the process that will see me become an HGV driver in 2022. I am signed up to train as a truck driver through the UK Government ‘Fast-Track’ training scheme.
There are a few hoops to jump through before starting my training, the first being medical. Once that is done, I have to apply for a provisional licence. Once my licence comes back from the DVLA, I can sit the first theory test. As long as I pass the theory exam, I can dive into the ten days of intensive driver training. I should be a fully qualified HGV driver before the summer if all goes well. I will write about my progress here and in my newsletter.
