Tomorrow is a big day. Tomorrow I pull the plug on all of my social media.
I’ve thought long and hard about the best way to do this. Should I go full tilt and delete everything, or do I take the middle way and just stop posting and reading my social media feeds?
For me, the best way is taking a sabbatical of sorts. I’ll privatise my Twitter and Instagram accounts, and deactivate my Facebook account. I’m not going to delete these accounts. Instead, I reserve the right to come back to each and any of them, as and when I see fit. As far as timing is concerned, I reckon I will start off with a six-month hiatus, with a review shortly afterwards. This is the final part of the switch off experiments, the practical.
As I’ve mentioned in my last post, I will be making the comments option available on all of my future posts. I’ve also decided to make a newsletter available to those of you that would like a regular update about what I’m doing with my life. No schedule. No format. No theme. No rules. Just some things that are on my mind. Things that are better said directly, in an email to you. Just the link below and get yourself signed up.
And another thing – my newsletter sign up form.
This has been a huge decision for me to make, but the overwhelm is getting to be too much for me to cope with at the moment. I’ll use the time and energy I save by writing more, developing my digital art projects and trying very hard to reduce our debts to zero.
Until next time, adieu!
