I’m Too Young to Die

So I’ve almost made it to the half century, will I manage another 50?

I like to think that I have robust genes. I’ll be fifty years old in November of next year, a full half century of roaming the planet in this big ole’ meat suit of mine!

A friend of mine told me today that a guy he was playing a game of walking football with the other day, collapsed and died. He was 54. He did have some underlying medical conditions, but he was dead at 54! Fuck, he was only a few years older than me, and it has got me to thinking a bit more about what the hellI’m going to do to improve my chances of living to a ripe old age.

There is a lot that I need to do to make sure I live for as long as possible. The first thing will be to get my weight down. I’m not going to break my neck and live on hay and water for the rest of my life; I’ll just get on the old Intermittent Fasting tip, and stay on it.

Next up, I’ll make sure that I’m taking at least an hour of exercise every day, probably just walking and I might even dust off the static bike.

Lastly, I’m going to do more for me as a person. I have to do something about my debts and the anxiety it makes me suffer. I’m not very good with money; I need to re-educate myself and get a grip on my financial situation.

I suffer from high blood pressure, and I’m pre-diabetic, so more things that could potentially cause me to die earlier than I hope to.

As you can see, there’s quite a lot I need to do to make sure I live for some time to come yet. I’ll get Christmas out of the way and then crack on with all of the above.

2018 is going to be the year that I become reborn, just in time for the rest of my life. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ll be reducing my social media footprint and using CoZ as the place that I write all of my blog posts.

As for social media, I will start to syndicate everything I share from here too. I’m also looking into microblogging platforms, instead of the traditional Facebook, Google and Twitter options.

I’m enjoying some of the voluntary work that I have been doing lately. I’m not planning to increase that workload, just improve what I’m already doing.

My writing output will increase too, primarily as I document the changes that I’m going to be making in my life. It is true what they say, the more you practice something, the better you become at it.

I’ve been giving some thought to going on a “negativity fast”, as a way to help me to see life with more clarity. I’ll write about that process another time.

I don’t want to live forever, just enough to do all of the things that I need and want to do before I slip off this mortal coil.

Until then, adieu.
