Witness the Fitness
As you might know, I have been busy working out a plan for shedding the excess weight that I’ve been carrying around with me for the last ten years or so.
Having listened to Joe Rogan speaking about self-discipline on his podcast recently, I have a better understanding of what I need to do to make some real improvements to my health and well-being.
So, here are some of the tips that I have picked up while researching my weight loss plan.
- ONLY DRINK WATER.
- GET UP EARLY (0600) – GO TO BED EARLY (2200) – AIM FOR 8-HOURS SLEEP.
- FOLLOW A 16/8 I.F. PLAN. NO FOOD BETWEEN 1800 & 1000.
- WALK FOR TWO HOURS EVERY DAY EXCEPT SUNDAY – TWO 1-HOUR SESSIONS SPLIT BETWEEN A.M. & P.M.
- WORK TOWARDS 100 SIT-UPS AND 100 PUSH-UPS PER DAY (THIS CAN BE SPREAD OUT THROUGH THE DAY).
- INCREASE MY INTAKE OF LOW-CARB FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
- ONLY EAT THREE TIMES PER DAY, BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER.
It isn’t rocket science. Eat well, cut out the crap and move more. I’m still working out the format for how I’m going to record this journey. I could do a vlog and post that video here each day. I’m not going to use Youtube if at all possible. I have a small video camera that I can use. It produces video in the correct format and at a high enough quality. I’ll talk about my progress, and about how I’m feeling. It will be unfiltered, raw footage.
Look out for some test videos soon.
FCUK Social Media – Redux
The more I think about it, the more I want to take a month away from using social media, and from using my smartphone. If I am going to get Karta to spend one day-per-week without using his phone and social media accounts, I need to lead by example.
The only reason that I will pick up my smartphone will be to check my WhatsApp messages I can check my emails and Signal messages on my PC. I am also working to move most of my email over to Protonmail from Outlook, although this will take some time to complete.
The Punkt MP-02 will become my device of choice for making phone calls and for sending SMS messages. I have a decent compact digital camera for when I want to take photos.
Ultimately, I will stop using products from companies like Facebook, Google and Microsoft. I am now taking time to seek out software from companies that have strong privacy values and will not share any of my information with third parties of any kind. Although rare, they are becoming easier to find.
I am making a concerted effort to slow down. I don’t need to check my email every five minutes. I don’t need push notifications, and I do not need social media.
That is all.
I’m thinking of doing a 7 day water fast. The 1st of August looks like a good time to start.
I’ve had a re-think about how I would like to move forward with my motorsport blog. The Rennsport Report has been neglected over the last couple of years, especially when I took on writing duties for The Checkered Flag. Well, I have decided to move RSR over to Substack, where it will become a subscription-based newsletter (paywall from 2021). I am working hard to come up with a more entertaining way of delivering race reports etc. There has to be a better way.
Hopefully, I will attract enough subscribers to help to pay for the expenses incurred by getting to, and reporting from the various races. Only time will tell.
You can sign up to the RSR newsletter by clicking here.
I had no idea that it would be so hard to take control of one’s eating habits! I just need to make a small change to the times that I eat.
I will try again today, no food after 7 PM, no food before 2 PM.
We managed to get out to a skatepark for Karta’s first post-lockdown session of the summer. We met up with one of Karta’s buddies and spent the afternoon at Cyclopark near Gravesend.
The park is easy to get to, cheap to enter and has a very chilled vibe. We will be going back next week!
A slow start to my weight-loss journey. My biggest vice is eating food late at night. If I can force myself to break that habit, the weight should fall off of me. So, from today, I am only going to eat between the hours of 2 pm and 7pm – although I will continue to have my morning coffee with milk and sugar!
Here are the stats for today.
- WEIGHT 132.8KG
- BMI 39.7
- BODY FAT 41.5%
The NHS website says that I should be aiming for a target weight of 85KG and a BMI of 25. I have a long way to go, but by my calculations, if I stick to my plan I should hit those goals in just over a year.
